Whispering House is a wonderful Old Dutch Style Colonial Bungalow, set in secluded landscaped gardens, moments away from one of the most beautiful beaches in the area with a superb swimming pool with guest sun loungers. The house opened for guests in 2013. The main house has two double bedrooms, both with en-suite bathrooms with each bedroom leading out on to covered terraces. The main feature of the house is a large 60 ft terrace, and acts like a outdoor reception and dining room with overhead ceiling fans, overlooking the pool. There is also a huge reception room, with an open plan kitchen inside, so your holiday is very much geared up to open plan living with friends and family. Dinners can be catered for and all meals are served on your own terrace, or on the main verandah.

Scattered around the house are wonderful antiques and both rooms have wonderful shuttered doors, opening on to terraces and there is a certain faded glory to the whole environment, which kind of reminds you of the old colonial days. The house is designed in the traditional way, so that the sea breeze constantly flows through, making it delightfully cool, even on the hottest days, with the distant crashing of the waves, just audible. The setting is divine, surrounded by lush tropical planned gardens, plants, palm trees and flowers, which attract a multitude of wildlife including birds of paradise through to monkeys, which generally visit daily and glorious peacocks strutting their stuff. The garden at the same time offers lovely shade and privacy, with no main roads or ugly vistas anywhere and is very private, but security is not an issue, either in the area or at the house. Madu the night watchman is there just as an extra comforting measure and during the day the Gardner is busy sweeping away. Additional Staff can be arranged at extra cost so if you want a full time cook or excellent nanny service is available, ask Upul to arrange this. The Silent House has just been completed within the grounds and offers the opportunity to expand your room requirements up to four suites. The pool is shared between both properties. Rooms can be hired individually or Whispering House and The Silent House can be hired as a whole on a bed and breakfast basis (if it’s total privacy you want then take the whole place)  Which ever option you choose, Upal will make your stay a holiday not to forget.  Upal is the Manager and he and his wife can organize anything from, laundry, private tours, airport transit, moped hire, tuk tuk collection,  beverages, (alcoholic or not) right down to a traditional home cooked dinner for you, be it a delicious fish BBQ or a traditional Sri Lankan Rice and Curry with all the trimmings. All arrangements are flexible and designed to make your stay as easy as possible. Please let him know in advance what you would like arranged beforehand. Privacy is the key to the house, no staff live on site (apart from the night and day watchmen in the gate house) yet are only a moment away should you need them.

 

Within a two minute stroll / 100 meters you are on one of the most beautiful palm fringed beaches to relax and swim in the safest seas in the area, Goyambokka Beach with its gently sloping golden white sand and crystal clear waters and fascinating rock pools either side for the children. Along the approach road are a couple of restaurants serving good home cooked food and on the beach are numerous beach bars, which are good for lunch.

Excellent Wifi speed is available at the property. For heavy usage a surcharge will apply. The property is television free and if you want music, please bring it with you, but consider the other guests. Each bedroom is air conditioned and have ceiling fans with constant hot water. What ever reservation option you choose, the Whispering House is surely is not trying to be something its not. What it offers is a wonderful experience and if the water doesn’t work for a while or the electricity stops, it won’t be through their doing, its applicable to the area, but it generally works. If its 5 star you want then skip this and go along the beach and pay $380 a night, but I bet you will not have such an amazing experience with such wonderful people.

The legal stuff and disclaimers: To confirm booking and to guarantee reservation a 30% deposit needs to be paid by bank transfer, Paypal or Western Union payment 30 Days prior to requested dates. Another 50% on arrival and the balance plus any accrued costs on depatrure day. Credit cards are not accepted. Please request bank details in advance. We have a strict reservation policy: no deposit no reservation. Bookings can be cancelled 6 weeks in advance for a full refund only. Christmas booking must be paid for in full 30 days prior to arrival.

The management can not be held responsible for any personal injury or loss to you or your guests or any outside factors beyond their control . Use of the pool is at your own risk and children must be monitored at all times by their parents. No smoking Indoors. Any damage to the property, furniture or fixtures and fittings must be paid for.
